New York Fashion Week is always a big event as it’s the official kickoff of fashion month, but it’s getting attention from a whole new crowd this year! K-Pop fans nearly broke the internet over Valentine’s Day weekend as it was revealed that TXT’s Yeonjun and WayV’s Yangyang would be making their runway modeling debut at New York Fashion Week.
Yeonjun will be modeling for ul:kin, designed by Lee Sung Dong —known for its innovative fashion expression through upcycling, deconstruction, reconstruction, and art. Yangyang, will be modeling for JARRET, designed by Lee Ji Yeon —known for its elevated athleisure aesthetic with high-tech construction for comfort and style.
With New York still partially locked down under COVID-19 restrictions, the NYFW runways will be broadcast live online. While idols and designers aren’t able to travel to New York for fashion week, the South Korean government stepped up to help. Together with the Korea Creative Content Agency (KOCCA), The Korean Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism launched a new initiative to support South Korean fashion designers impacted by the pandemic.
