Lee Jong Suk is back with his newest K-Drama, and you’re not going to want to miss it. “Big Mouth,” tells the story of an underperforming lawyer who gets mistaken for a swindling conman and his elegant, yet foul-mouthed wife who tries to clear his name. The K-Drama has been getting hype since it was announced, and for good reason: Lee Jong Suk will be reuniting with Oh Choong Hwan, who directed blockbusters like “While You Were Sleeping,” “Hotel del Luna,” and “Start-Up.”
From the first teaser, “Big Mouth” looks like it’s going to be one of those K-Dramas that keep viewers on the edge of their seats throughout the series. If that’s not reason enough to anticipate this series, here are three reasons we’re excited to watch “Big Mouth.”
1. Phenomenal Cast
If you remember Lee Jong’s Suk’s last K-Drama was over three years ago, with “Romance is a Bonus Book.” This drama is his first back since military service so fan expectation is high. Meanwhile, Yoon-Ah has been busy with a variety of films and K-Dramas since 2016’s, K2.
We’re also curious to see how fan favorites like Yang Kyung-won, Kim Joo Heon, and Kwak Dong Yeon fit into the story. With so many talented actors and actresses, we’re expecting to see some of the fiercest performances we’ve ever seen.
2. Interesting Plot
Similar to his previous roles, Lee Jong Suk portrays an underdog. What makes “Big Mouth” different, is that no amount of talking can save his big mouth from getting him in trouble this time. “Big Mouth” gives not only Lee Jong Suk the ability to show a new side of himself, but it also showcases a new side of Yoon-Ah, who found herself completely immersed in the character while filming. Not to mention, various characters are intricately intertwined and are hiding behind the dramatic events waiting to be revealed as the story unfolds.
3. The Romance
One of the most common cliches in romance is for the male to take care of the female. This is especially popular in K-Dramas when the male lead is a chaebol, attempting to romance the poor female lead. Not here. While Park Chang-Oh (Lee Jong Suk) is a third-rate lawyer who loses nearly 100% of all his cases, earning him little respect and even less money, his wife is the exact opposite. Go Mi-ho (Lim Yoon-Ah) is a headstrong nurse married to Park, who she supports both mentally and financially.
Their romance is cute and flirty in their youth, but transitions into something more intense when Park finds himself in a life-threatening situation. As he battles to survive and keep his wife safe, Go Mi-Hio devotes herself to clear his name no matter what it takes.
“Big Mouth” is set to premiere on July 29th on Disney+ Korea!
